Overview
ShoreTel Mobility extends the full power of a desk phone and Unified Communications (UC)capabilities to a mobile and sets the user free to communicate from any location (office, home, hotspots) by enabling access to any network (cellular or Wi-Fi), simply and cost effectively.
A ShoreTel Mobility solution is well designed to suite businesses of all sizes and addresses challenges connected with mobile phone use: poor in-building coverage, soaring international roaming costs, and integration into corporate PBX and Unified Communications systems.
One of the main advantages of the ShoreTel Mobility is its exclusive inherent ability from ShoreTel Unified Communications system, which makes it easy to be integrated with other PBX systems, including those from Avaya, Cisco, Nortel, Alcatel-Lucent, and UC systems such as Microsoft OCS.
Designed to reduce costs.
ShoreTel Mobility’s patent-pending least-cost routing not only routes cellular calls via the cheapest path inside and outside the enterprise, but also is one of the only solutions to use VoIP over WLAN on leading smartphones such as the BlackBerry platform and the iPhone to drive international cost down and increase user productivity.
Constant connectivity at your fingertips.
The increasing need for workers to remain connected at all times, combined with building design and materials that inhibit cellular radio transmission, mean that businesses are always looking for ways to provide in-building coverage without the significant investment of cellular-based technology. Businesses and governments can take control of in-building coverage problems and leverage Wireless LAN networks to provide wireless coverage.
Built with security in mind.
ShoreTel Mobility’s Secure Remote Voice ensures voice communications are secure from non-enterprise locations by leveraging ubiquitous TLS/SSL protocol using well-known firewall policies. Additionally, unlike traditional mobile VPN solutions that are complex to set up and require significant administrator and user intervention, Secure Remote Voice is easy to use and preserves simplicity while maintaining maximum security.
Enterprise mobility puts power in the pocket
ShoreTel Mobility gives mobile workers always-on access to their peers and provides the feature-rich capabilities of Unified Communications that help drive successful collaboration.
The ShoreTel Mobility solution has two components that are either deployed as part of a ShoreTel UC system, or that can be deployed with other PBX and UC systems.
The ShoreTel Mobility Router is designed to scale from deployments as small as 25 users to well over 10,000 users, and integrates with the enterprise PBX, Unified Communications system, and user directory (i.e. Microsoft Active Directory or LDAP).
The ShoreTel RoamAnywhere Client is an end-user application that is installed "over the air" on mobile devices.
Below diagram shows how ShoreTel Mobility works within ShoreTel's distributed architecture.
In one word: Ease
With ShoreTel Mobility, enterprises can extend deskphone features and UC capabilities to a natively integrated mobile client, while users can benefit a rich experience without having to relearn a new mobile interface. Additionally, the solution is effortless to deploy for administrators and integrates easily with an existing infrastructure.
In two words: Reduce Costs
Slash mobile costs with the ability to automatically select most cost-effective method of routing calls. ShoreTel Mobility’s policy engine can select from VoIP over Wi-Fi and enterprise cellular Least Cost Routing. This not only slashes international roaming costs but also enables you to offload cellular minutes onto the Wi-Fi network when within an enterprise, allowing you to reduce cellular usage and move employees onto lower tier plans.
In three words: Extend In-building Coverage
By leveraging the enterprise WLAN, coverage can be extended for multiple operators with a single infrastructure while providing higher quality voice. The solution also extends coverage to home and public Wi-Fi securely through an industry-first TLS/SSL- based connection.
In four words: Drive up employee productivity
With the power of the desk phone in their pockets, mobile workers are easy to access, quick to respond and well-informed to make important decisions on the fly. Improved connectivity means less voicemail, easy access to presence and calendar information, and the ability to prioritize calls in real time. All these features are proven to help boost productivity and support business success.
In five words: Broad PBX and UC Support
Our support for flexibility and choice means that ShoreTel Mobility is designed to interoperate with leading WLAN systems, PBXs such as Cisco, Avaya, Alcatel-Lucent, and UC systems such as Microsoft OCS 2007. It also extends advanced unified communications features to virtually all popular dual-mode mobile devices, so your company and your end users can choose the right way for you to stay connected.
